SCM(Supply Chain Management)

A chain of companies that produce, distribute, and sell goods is called supply chain. Business practice in which all the members of the supply chain coordinate and store right goods in the right place at right time is called supply chain management, SCM.

To effectively achieve SCM, acquiring information about demand and inventory in the fine grained level is essential. The introduction of POS (point of sales) system has made it possible to use demand information in the fine grained manner. However, inventory information has not been available in the same manner.

This situation has changed with the development of ubiquitous computing system, such as RFID (radio frequency identification) technology. With the technology, number of goods stored in each stocking point becomes available in the corporate information systems. In this research area, we propose a novel supply chain process that utilizes newly available fine grained information, and show its effectiveness theoretically.
